Aaron Finch made his debut in the first match of a five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on January 11, 2013. However, we cannot forget the player we unfortunately lost in 2014, Philip Huges, who was the man of the match in the first and the last match of that series. However, Finch was only able to play only two matches in that series, and in those two matches, he came as the opening batsman along with Hughes. Finch scored just 16 off 28 balls in the first match and scored 4 off 15 balls in the second match. His failed bating led him to be replaced by David Warner in the third match. However, Finch's first match was a victory for Australia.

On March 7, 2018, an unbelievable record was set in T20 cricket. On that day, A batsman was able to score the highest individual score in Twenty20 International cricket, and that was Aaron Finch. Aaron Finch scored 172 runs for 76 deliveries with 10 sixes and 16 fours. The incredible thing is that he surpassed his own record, which he was made against England in 2013, by scoring 156 runs for 63 deliveries, which made the Australian team the 4th highest total scored team in the world on that day. On average, one hundred and fifty runs in a T20 match is the number of runs a team scored in the match. So in order for a single player to score that much of runs, he has to play a huge role. So it was an excellent achievement for Aaron Finch to break his own record five years after.

Why has this talented player only played a few Tests? His Test stats are not so bad. He scored 278 runs in the 10 innings he played until now with two fifties, and his highest inning score is 62, and it was scored in his debut Test match, which was against Pakistan on October 7, 2018. However, he said it is unrealistic to see him again in TEST cricket.
